QUAD CITIES WEDDING PHOTO & VIDEO

JOE GIBBS
This is the weird part of my website where I have to talk about myself. I’m Joe, I’ve been a photographer for well over a decade now, and have been a wedding photographer/filmmaker for around the same. I’m also a musician, and enjoy staying involved in my local music scene.
I love documentary style work, and I take a lot of inspiration from that. My work is intended to leave you with the feeling that you experienced on your wedding day. I like to capture moments rather than create moments.

why work with me?
Care
A wedding is one of the biggest days of your life. I don’t take that lightly. I will show up with my A game to every wedding I have the opportunity to capture.
experience
I’ve been a full-time photographer for seven years, capturing photos and videos since 2010. I know my gear inside out, especially when it comes to weddings. Not much surprises me anymore.
AdaPTABILITY
As a photographer and filmmaker, one of the most important traits to have is the ability to adapt. I try to keep up on trends while giving you images that will stand the test of time. I want your photos or video to reflect the feeling you had on the day of your wedding.
Video
With my video style, I take a documentary approach. As a photographer myself, I work very well with photographers. I let the photographer have the main control of the day so I can capture your day exactly as you remember it.

frequently asked questions
how far in advance should we book you for our wedding?
Generally a year in advance is about right, but I’ve booked weddings a week out before, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
How do you approach shooting photo and video together?
When I shoot both photo and video, I have a rig that connects the two cameras together on moments where both are needed. Most of the time I can capture video while shooting photos. If you select a second shooter, they will handle a second photo camera, getting another angle!
how WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
I like to think I’m a borderline documentary photographer and filmmaker. I will still pose you for portraits but for the rest of the day I will be trying to capture your day as you remember it. My editing style is slightly moody, but not too dark.
Here are some of my favorite recent weddings!
why i became a wedding photographer in THE QUAD CITIES
I started taking photos around the Sauk Valley Area back in 2010, specifically in my hometown, Morrison, IL. To be honest, I never imagined I’d end up being a wedding photographer or wedding videographer. But as I dipped my toes into wedding gigs around 2013, something clicked. I fell in love with the energy and importance of these events. I’ve said this a million times on this site, but I take your wedding seriously, and I believe in my abilities enough to be the one to capture it.
In 2014, my venture into videography took an unexpected turn. My band needed a music video, and I thought, “Why not try making one myself?” With a camera capable of recording video, I took the plunge. I still enjoy being part of the local music scene, creating music videos for bands I enjoy.
I think one of my best qualities as a wedding filmmaker and photographer, is my ability to keep a level head in stressful situations. I like to keep things as relaxed as possible, and my goal is for that to translate into your photos.
